GRIOT “Gimme Five”

The Brooklyn Community Foundation Awards GRIOT Circle A Spark Prize For Being One of Brooklyn’s Top Nonprofits

The Spark Prize recognizes organizations with a strong track record of addressing critical challenges and opportunities in Brooklyn. The Foundation aims to celebrate organizations that demonstrate strong values, a commitment to equity and racial justice, and a dynamic vision for the future of their work, in Brooklyn and beyond.

On October 3rd GRIOT hosted our 21st Anniversary Celebration benefit. The energy of the evening was electrifying and joyous as our community came together in support of our elders.
GRIOT is the only staffed organization in the country exclusively dedicated to serving the needs of LGBTQ elders of color.
For the past 21 years, we have faced many challenges and
uncertain times but, we have prevailed.
As one of our multiple programs proclaims –
we are “still standing” and providing critical programs and services to our constituency.
We could not have done this alone.
Thank you for standing with us and for all your support through the years!

GRIOT shares the honor of receiving this SPARK award with you and all of our friends.

As an awardee the Brooklyn Community Foundation will match up to $5,000 that GRIOT Circle raises during National Day of Giving.
On the Tuesday after Thanksgiving charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.

As we near #GivingTuesday, we’ll introduce our “Gimme Five” Campaign. There are five ways you can help GRIOT meet our match.

  1. Make a personal donation
  2. Donate in the name of someone
  3. Host a fundraiser
  4. Spread the word
  5. Make a monthly pledge
Although we could not be more grateful
for all you have done and given in support of us, please

and consider making a contribution to
GRIOT Circle on Tuesday,  November 28th to help us meet our match.
