Also, over one hundred peer-led support groups were provided that included the Women’s Group, Men Sexual Health Group, and Over 50 Transgender and Gender Nonconforming Group.

In addition, over forty seniors received case management services. Members worked with a dedicated staff /consultant that provided them with intensive and ongoing individual supportive case planning and coordination such as; applying for food stamps, eviction prevention assistance, and housing placement.

Because members had a need to fellowship and are in community with each other amidst the changing health crisis, emphasis was placed in increasing the cultural and social outings for members during the warmer months. GRIOT staff both planned and executed many and partnered with other CBO’s such as: Brooklyn Community Pride Center, Stonewall Community Development Corporation, Brooklyn Museum Teens, Generation Project, Stonewall Brooklyn Center. This included trips to museums, outdoor movies, trips to the local green markets, live art shows, arts-based classes across NYC parks, and social outings at the beach.

In addition, a Volunteer Appreciation Day Boat Ride Lunch was sponsored by GRIOT member volunteers to recognize their assistance in helping staff meet their goals during the many challenges presented by COVID. Volunteer appreciation lunches are held annually for volunteer members.
