Welcome Sami Binder/Program Assistant to the GRIOT team!

We are thrilled to announce that GRIOT Circle has a new addition to our team: Sami Binder/Program Assistant.
Sami will help us grow our existing programs and support our Buddy 2 Buddy program, which connects seniors with each other to combat loneliness and isolation!
Sami Binder is a dedicated LGBTQ+ activist who strives to create safe, respectful, and diverse spaces for LGBTQ+ people and allies. Sami has worked at CUNY Brooklyn College’s LGBTQ+ Resource Center, where they organized the first Lavender Graduation and Queer Prom, advocated for all-gender bathrooms on campus, and created programs that educated and entertained the community.
Sami has also been a Trans Literacy Educator with Honest Accomplice Theatre, providing information and answering questions about topics related to transgender identities and issues.
With degrees in Women’s and Gender Studies, Theatre, and LGBTQ Studies, Sami loves to combine their passion of art and activism.

We are very pleased to announce that, GRIOT Circle was honored with the Jason Collins award during the Brooklyn Nets game at the Barclay Center. Jason Collins, the NBA’s first active openly gay player and former Brooklyn Net, presented the award on the court during Pride Night.
The recognition of GRIOT Circle with the prestigious Jason Collins award is a testament to the organization's unwavering commitment to LGBTQ inclusion and leadership. It's a moment of pride not only for Lisa Eddy, who graciously accepted the award, but for the entire GRIOT community whose support and dedication have been the cornerstone of the organization's success.
This accolade underscores the importance of visibility and support for LGBTQ individuals in every arena. It's a powerful reminder that the journey towards equality and acceptance is a collective effort, and every contribution, big or small, propels us forward. Congratulations to GRIOT Circle for this well-deserved honor, and may it inspire continued advocacy and progress within the community and beyond.
